The Urban Ministry Institute of Chester offers excellent theological education taught from three complementing curriculums: Capstone Curriculum, Foundations for Ministry Series and Upper Room Workshops, as well as Satellite Designed Courses which are designed specifically to meet the unique ministry needs and challenges of those ministering in an urban context.
Certificate in Christian Leadership Studies: Capstone Curriculum
Our Certificate in Christian Leadership Studies, is conferred upon all students who complete the 16 modules of our Capstone Curriculum (32 credits). The modules must be taught by an approved mentor or professor. The students must read the supplemental texts and complete the required quizzes, final exam, and ministry project for each module, attending 10 of the 12 classroom hours per module. The Capstone curriculum covers eight credit hours per department area: Biblical Studies, Theology and Ethics, Christian Ministry, and Urban Ministry.
Certificate in Urban Theological Studies
Our Certificate in Urban Theological Studiesis conferred upon all students who complete 32 complete hours of studyat TUMI Chester. The Capstone Curriculum and the Foundations for Ministry Series along with other site approved courses can be utilized to complete the 32 credit hours of study. eight credit hours is required in each department area: Biblical Studies, Theology and Ethics, Christian Ministry and Urban Mission.
Ministerial Studies Diploma
For those interested in a more advanced program, TUMI Chester offers the Ministerial Studies Diploma by
completing and additional 32 credits hour of study (64 credit hours
total) once they receive a Certificate that TUMI Chester offers.
The program begins with the completion of a required course: the
Ministry Assessment Project. This course helps a student assess
their gifts, calling, and ongoing direction in ministry and brings
their pastoral or denominational supervisor into the process of
designing their diploma program and coordinating it with their ministry
responsibilities. The students must retain the balance of eight
credit hours per department area. The program is designed to
address and strengthen the vision, issues and needs of the student.
